Our Design/Build career began in1992. Since then we have been providing exceptional architecture, design, and drafting services in the Duluth area. As a Minnesota Licensed Design/Build Contractor for more than two decades, and one decade of building material sales, we have gained the experience and knowledge necessary to make our plans buildable.
We actively listen to our clients, then we combine our expertise with their dreams and visions to translate them into detailed design plans that work.

Free Consultation
Once you engage with Arrowhead Design & Drafting, we will schedule a designer best suited for your project. We will meet you, where you are most comfortable; your home, the building site, or we will buy you a coffee at a locally owned coffee house. This is a free consultation for one hour.
Itemized Estimate for Design
Within a few days of meeting with one of our qualified designers, you will receive an itemized estimate for the following items.

Conceptual Design
We actively listen and maintain a focus on your dreams, your wants and your needs. We start our designs with a function before fashion attitude. Once the envelope and function are established we add the fashion, the nuances that express your style.
Concept Designs includes: Floor Plans, Elevations Plans and 2D and 3D renderings.
Some of our clients only want the concept design, because they are not ready to build.
Permit Drawings
When you are ready to build, you will need to a set of plans that show the details required by the 2018 International Building Code (IBC) if your project is in Minnesota. For projects in Wisconsin, the code is the Uniform Building Code (UBC). Permit Drawings include: Cross Sections, Roof Plans, Plot Plans, Window & Door Schedules. Some projects will have Engineered Structural Plans, and some may have Land Survey Plans as well.
Engineering
When Engineering is needed, we us a local Engineering Consulting Firm. If we believe there is even a small chance that your project will need engineering, we add a line item allowance to your estimate, so engineering investments are not unexpected.
Land Survey
Some projects will need a Lot Line Survey or maybe a complete plot survey. If so we use a local Land Survey Company. If we believe there is even a small chance that your project will need a survey, we add a line item allowance to your estimate, so a survey investment is not unexpected.
Permit Application and Permit Fee
Once you have hired a licensed builder, we can do the work to get your building and/or land use permit. While your builder can do this, many builders prefer to have Arrowhead Design & Drafting get the permit. If a builder is behind the desk, they are not on your site. We get permits for builders even if we do not do the design. Your estimate will show a service fee for the permit application and a permit allowance for the expected permit cost from you building official.
Selections Coordination
Colors, textures, features and cost are all very relative to the creating your dream. Benjamin, our Senior Designer has decades of experience as a design/builder. Benjamin also has over 10 years experience in sales for a local lumber yard and Selections Coordination for a local contracting firm. For kitchen and bath selections, we work with a local cabinet shop for both the design and selections of counters and cabinets. We look forward to helping you bring the aesthetic touches to your home so that you get that; "wow", "Wow", "WOW" from your family and friends.
Itemized Building Material Cost
How confident will you feel when you hand your design to three potential builders, and you already know the building material cost?
Benjamin, our Senior Designer has been in the design/build construction industry since 1992. With his knowledge of construction methods and material, we will provide you with an itemized material list from a local lumber yard.
Completion Date
When you engage with Arrowhead Design & Drafting, your estimate will also have an estimated completion date. If we cannot get your design done to meet your schedule, wouldn't that be nice to know before we begin?
